What Makes Simply Dog Photography Different

A session with me starts long before the camera comes out, with a conversation about your dog, what he loves, what makes him him, the little things you don't want to forget. That becomes the plan for the day, built entirely around keeping him comfortable, patient with whatever that looks like, energetic or shy, puppy or senior. Sixteen-plus years of doing this, and a house full of four senior rescue dogs, built the way I work: your dog's safety and comfort always come first. When the session ends, you sit down with me and choose the images that belong in your home, whether that's a full album or a grouping on your wall, all of it built around this exact day with him.

We Plan the Day Around What You Love About Him Before we ever meet, we sit down and talk.

What's the thing your dog does that makes you laugh every single time? What do you want to make sure we don't miss, the ears, the goofy toy trot, the way he leans on you? That conversation turns into a plan built entirely around what matters to you, so nothing important gets lost in the moment. I'm still watching your dog closely the whole session, waiting for the real him to show up, but we're not leaving it to chance. We planned for it.

Patient With Every Kind of Dog I've worked with dogs who never stop moving and dogs who need a full five minutes just to feel safe enough to come say hello.

Puppies who trip over their own feet. Senior dogs who need an extra minute to get settled. Every one of them gets the same thing from me: time, patience, and zero pressure to be anything other than who they already are. That's not a script, it's just how you get a session that actually feels good and safe for your dog from start to finish.

My Own Four Dogs Taught Me What Matters At home, Jax, Blossom, Louie and Emmett, four senior dogs, taught me most of what I know about aging, patience and what actually matters in a photo.

Watch a sixteen year old dog slow down a little more every month, and the perfect pose stops mattering. What matters is what's real, right now, while you still can have it. That's the lens every session gets shot through, whether the dog walking in is eight weeks old or eight years old. Time moves fast for all of us, and that's exactly why this work matters to me.

I Bring the Same Patience to the Most Nervous Dogs I Meet Rescue organizations across Central Ohio call me in for the dogs who need it most, the ones who have never had anyone slow down for them before.

Most of that work happens right in my Dublin studio, where a scared shelter dog can settle without the added stress of a brand new outdoor space. I sit with him. I wait. I let him decide when he's ready, and eventually the tail starts going and the real dog shows up, exactly the version that helps him get noticed and find his family. If I can earn that kind of trust from a dog who has every reason not to give it, your own dog is in good hands with me too.

You Choose the Artwork Together, Not from a Gallery Link.

There's no online gallery where you scroll through options alone. After the session, you come back to my Dublin studio and we go through everything together, choosing the images that are right for your home, something you can hold, all of them showing exactly who he was on that day. Most clients fall for more than one, that's usually how they end up with a full album instead of a single print. That's usually the part clients tell me they didn't expect to love as much as they did.

FAQ

Do you only photograph well behaved dogs? No. I've worked with dogs who never sat still once and dogs too nervous to leave their person's side at first. Neither one is a problem to solve, that's just who they are, and that's exactly who I show up to photograph.

Do you plan out what we're going to photograph ahead of time? Yes. Every session starts with a conversation about your dog, what you love about him and what you don't want to miss, and that becomes the plan for the day.

Do you work with rescue dogs and shelters? Yes. I regularly photograph for rescue organizations across Central Ohio, most of that work happens right in my Dublin studio, and it's one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.

What areas do you serve? Columbus, Dublin, Powell, Worthington and the surrounding Central Ohio area.

If you want a day with your dog that feels like this, patient, unhurried, built entirely around him, and images from it you'll want to fill a wall with or turn into an album you go back to again and again, I'd love to talk about what that looks like for you two.
